Welcome to the Tooldit about us page. We are a team of developers and designers who built a free, browser-based toolbox for PDFs, images, and AI — where every file stays on your device, every time.
Every time we needed to compress a PDF, convert an image, or merge documents, we ran into the same frustrating pattern: upload your file to a random server, create an account, and hope your data stays safe. We knew there had to be a better way.
That frustration became our motivation. In 2024, we launched Tooldit as a side project with a single goal: build tools that work entirely in the browser. No servers touching your files, no accounts required, no compromises on quality. What started as a handful of PDF utilities has grown into a comprehensive toolbox available to anyone with a supported browser.
When you upload a file to most online tools, you are trusting a stranger with your resume, medical records, financial documents, or family photos. That file passes through servers you cannot see or control — and there is rarely a good reason for it.
Tooldit eliminates that risk entirely. Your files open in your browser tab, all processing runs on your own device using JavaScript and WebAssembly, and when you close the tab everything disappears. No copies, no traces, no exceptions. This is what we believe file tools should look like in 2025 and beyond.
