About Sling Drift
Sling Drift is a fast, one-button endless drift game you play right in your browser. Instead of steering with a wheel, you latch the car onto a series of pivot pins planted at each corner and let momentum swing you around the bend. Every corner you clear pushes you further down a procedurally generated track that twists harder, narrows, and speeds up the longer you survive. There is nothing to install and no waiting screen — load the page and you are seconds from your first run of this addictive drift racing game.
The whole experience runs locally on the HTML5 canvas in your tab. The track, the physics, the synthesized engine and tire sounds, and your saved high score all live in your browser, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing sent to a server.
How to Play
Sling Drift uses a single input — hold to drift, release to sling — so it is easy to pick up but tricky to master:
- Hold to drift — as a glowing orange pivot draws level with your car, press and hold Space, click the mouse, or tap and hold the screen. The car snaps onto the pivot with a yellow leash and orbits the corner.
- Release to sling — let go at the right moment and the car flings off along the exit tangent, straight down the next stretch of road.
- Stay on the asphalt — the goal is simply to keep all four wheels on the track. The instant you leave the road it is game over.
- Booster stretches — every tenth corner is replaced by a long, glowing orange straight with animated chevrons that briefly boosts your top speed.
- Keyboard shortcuts — press R to restart instantly and M to mute or unmute the sound.
Your score is the distance you cover in meters. You hit a celebration every 250 meters, with larger flashes and screen shakes at every 500 and 1,000 meters, and the track grows tighter and faster the deeper you go.
Tips & Strategy
- Watch the numbers on the road. Each corner is labeled with a faded numeral, so you can read the next pivot well before you reach it and plan your grab.
- Do not press too early. A press only catches a pivot that is within range and roughly off to your side. Grabbing while the pin is still dead ahead does nothing, so wait until the corner pulls level with the car.
- Release on the exit line. Hold a hair too long and you will over-rotate past the next straight; let go too soon and you will undershoot the corner. Aim to release when the nose points down the upcoming road.
- Respect the boosters. Booster straights ramp your speed up fast, which makes the very next corner arrive sooner than you expect. Get your eyes on the next pivot early.
- Chase paint jobs. Beating distance thresholds unlocks new Ferrari-style colors — a fun reason to push for one more milestone on every run.
